Cogswap Ps2 S

admin

For this to work, you’ll need a PS2 slim with a date code of 8B or earlier. If your date code is 8C, the mod may or may not work. PS2 slims that were manufactured in 3rd quarter 2008 came with different versions of firmware, so it’s a crap shoot. Anything newer than 8B may require a physical mod chip be soldered in. Sep 25, 2018  Hi guys. Throwing it back old school with a PS2 Tutorial. Today i will be showing you guys how to install FMCB with ANY ps2 game disc on most slim consoles (not including 9x models - these are untested) Please watch the video below for instructions, otherwise please read below, there will be a wr.

THIS NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED AND REWRITTEN, WIP

  • 3Booting into COGSWAP

Requirements =

Prepare the PS2 for hot swapping

  • open PS2
  • block the lid detection mechanism

Booting into COGSWAP

Requirements

  • An original PS2 DVD game (any should do but YMMV)
  • a blank DVD
  • GNU ddrescue -- to make ISO copy from original PS2 DVD game (unlike cat or dd, ddrescue will retry in case of read errors)
  • COGSWAP -- an ELF binary that permits the arbitrary boot of any CDR/DVDR
  • Apache 1.1 -- to modify the original ISO copy

Instructions

  • make a copy of an original DVD PS2 game
  • Figure out which file is booted by the PS2 on this ISO (it's not always the same file):
  • Rename the cogswap.elf file to the filename you found
  • Note the size of the file (important in case you use a different version of COGSWAP)
  • Start Apache
  • In 'File', open donor.iso
  • click and select the relevant SLES file
  • In 'ISO Tools' go to 'Change TOC for selected file, then in 'Size (dec)', put 58160 (adjust if needed), press 'Update'
  • click and select the relevant SLES file
  • In 'ISO Tools' go to 'Update Selected File' and choose the prepared COGSWAP version of the SLES file, update.
  • Burn the modified donor.iso to a blank DVDR

Done you now have a PS2 DVD that contains COGSWAP.

  • Burn Ulaunch
  • Copy newbie package to USB key

The PlayStation 2 was designed to be backward compatible with PlayStation games. However, not all PlayStation games work on the PlayStation 2. In addition, later models of the PlayStation 2 console could not play all of the games that were released for prior versions of the PlayStation 2. This article provides a list of some of the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games that are not compatible with all models of the PlayStation 2.

All models[edit]

These PlayStation games have compatibility issues with all models of PlayStation 2:[1]

PlayStation games

  • Arcade Party Pak (Tested on SCPH-75001: Partially incompatible. 720 degrees loads but flickers constantly through all game screens: Unplayable, unless one wants to play through the constant flicker. Klax loads and plays without any obvious issues: Playable. Rampage loads and plays without any obvious issues: Playable, multi-tap not tested. Smash TV is occasionally stuck in a firing direction until X, O, Square or Triangle is pressed and some short duration green enemy jitter occasionally occurs at the very start of the first screen: Playable, dual analog also supported. Super Sprint gets stuck on a flickering blue screen when loading: Unplayable. Toobin' has minor flickering during load transition screens but game screens show no obvious issues: Playable.)
